Statement of the Press and Public Relations Directorate of the Presidency on the 5+1 Informal Meeting on Cyprus to be held on 16-17 July in New York that will be attended by President Ersin Tatar
The statement reads as follows:
President Ersin Tatar will depart for New York on July 15 (tomorrow) to participate in the 5+1 Informal Meeting on Cyprus, which is a continuation of the 5+1 meeting held in New York on March 17–18, 2025.
President Tatar will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Special Representative Güneş Onar, Advisor on Legal Affairs Sülen Karabacak, Confidence Building Measures and Bilateral Technical Committees Coordinator Seniha Birand Çınar, Special Adviser on International Relations and Diplomacy Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Işıksal and Foreign Press Officer Kerem Haser.
The delegation will depart from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on July 15 and arrive in New York at 5.55pm local time (12.55am TRNC time, on July 16).
At 6.50pm on July 16 (1.50am TRNC time), there will be a photo session with the UN Secretary-General and each Head of Delegation.
The informal meeting will start at 7pm (2am TRNC time) with a dinner, to be held at the “Delegates Dining Room” on the fourth floor of the UN Headquarters building.
On July 17 at 9am, the UN Secretary-General will hold bilateral meetings and individual photo sessions with the respective delegations. The meeting between UN Secretary-General António Guterres and President Ersin Tatar and his delegation will take place from 10am to 10.20am local time (5pm to 5.20pm TRNC time), on the 38th floor, where the Secretary-General's office is located.
From 10.30am to 10:50am (5.30pm to 5.50pm TRNC time), President Tatar will hold a bilateral meeting with Stephen Doughty, Minister of State for Europe.
Following a family photo session open to the press from 11.15am to 11.30am (6.15pm to 6.30pm TRNC time), the main plenary session will be held in the 5+1 format from 11.30am to 1.30pm (6.30pm to 8.30pm TRNC time) on the 27th floor of the UN Headquarters building. A closing session in the 5+1 format will take place from 3.15pm to 4.45pm (10.15pm to 11.45pm TRNC time).
At 5pm (12am TRNC time), President Ersin Tatar will hold a press conference at the UN Headquarters building.
Following the conclusion of the informal meeting, the delegation will head to the airport and depart from New York at 12.35am on July 18, 2025 (7.35am TRNC time) to return to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
President Tatar and his delegation will arrive in the TRNC at 8.05pm TRNC time and hold a press conference at Ercan State Airport at 8.30pm.
