President Tatar's Message for World Health Day

In his statement on the occasion of World Health Day, President Ersin Tatar stated that the World Health Organisation started its work in 1948 after the adoption of its constitution, and that April 7 is celebrated as Health Day every year.

The President said: "The Covid-19 pandemic, which has been continuing since December 2019, has once again revealed how important the healthcare systems and healthcare workers are in our lives”.

President Tatar added:

“World Health Day aims to draw attention to the fact that healthy life is an indispensable human right and emphasises that in order to have a healthy society,  it is necessary for individuals to be healthy.

In this context, healthcare professionals who, with their knowledge, skills and hard work, serve in the health sector for the welfare of the people and provide an important service to the society.

In the first months following the first Covid-19 case in the TRNC, during the period I was serving as Prime Minister, the TRNC applied to the World Health Organisation to participate in the WHO.

During these difficult days, disregarding the obvious risks to their own lives, the Ministry of Health and all healthcare professionals are continuing with their efforts to fight the Covid-19 in order for our society to have a healthy future.

With these thoughts and feelings,  I would like to express my gratitude and respect to all healthcare workers whom we entrust our lives and health, and wish them a happy April 7 World Health Day.”
