President Ersin Tatar took part in the ceremony held at the Atatürk Monument in Lefkoşa to mark the 103rd anniversary of the 30 August Victory Day.

"The Turkish Cypriot people will continue to walk together with the Republic of Türkiye — the ‘greatest work’ you entrusted to the nation.”

In the memorial book, President Tatar wrote the following words:

“Esteemed Atatürk,

On the 103rd anniversary of the Great Victory — one of the most glorious achievements of the Turkish nation, which liberated Anatolia from foreign occupation and laid the foundation for the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye — we stand once again in reverence before your eternal memory.

Under your supreme command, and through the unmatched courage and heroism of the Turkish soldiers, the Great Offensive launched on 26 August 1922 reached its decisive triumph at Dumlupınar. This historic victory reaffirmed before the entire world that the Turkish nation would never submit to captivity.

The Great Victory became not only a source of pride for the Turkish nation, but also a beacon of hope and inspiration for oppressed peoples in their struggle for independence. Drawing strength and inspiration from this monumental triumph, the Turkish Cypriot people resolutely pursued their own national struggle, ultimately establishing their homeland and sovereign State.

The Turkish Cypriot people will continue to walk together with the Republic of Türkiye — the ‘greatest work’ to which you gave life — and will never compromise their sovereignty or statehood.

With deep respect and gratitude, we bow before your cherished memory, as we also honour with reverence all our martyrs who gave their lives for our homeland, independence, and freedom. May Allah bestow His mercy upon them.”
