President Ersin Tatar takes part in the Youth Gathering event organised by the National Unity Party Youth Branch
President Ersin Tatar took part in the Youth Gathering event organised by the Youth Branch of the National Unity Party (UBP).
President Tatar, who addressed the event, emphasised that the centuries-long struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people has always been carried forward on the shoulders of youth, underlining that the future of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus rests in their hands.
“We have never forgotten Dr. Fazıl Küçük, our Leader who led us in our struggle for freedom, Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş, our third President Dr. Derviş Eroğlu, and their friends in the struggle. . . and we shall pass on the flag to our youth," President Tatar stated. “And it is this very flag that we will entrust to our young people.”
He reaffirmed that, together with the Republic of Türkiye, the Turkish Cypriot side will steadfastly uphold the policy of a two State settlement, adding: “This is the most important legacy we have inherited from our past, and the greatest trust we shall bequeath to our future.”
“As Turkish Cypriots, we have existed on this island for centuries, and we will continue to defend, to the very end, our right to self-governance,” President Tatar stressed, expressing his expectation that today’s youth will carry this mission forward.
Highlighting that “without losing sight of our past, we will advance into the future with confidence and unity,” he conveyed his gratitude to Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, the UBP committees, the district branches, and all young people for their dedication and contributions.
Concluding his address, President Tatar affirmed: “As in the past, so too in the days ahead, we will continue to work hand in hand for new victories.”
