President Ersin Tatar receives Türkiye - Azerbaijan Strategy and Economy Club Chairman Koray Bozat and his delegation

President Ersin Tatar received the Türkiye – Azerbaijan Strategy and Economy Club Chairman Koray Bozat and his delegation.
The President thanked the club for their efforts in the promotion and development of political and economic relations between the TRNC and Azerbaijan.
Referring to the Cyprus issue, the President stated that he has put forward a new policy for stability and sustainable peace in Cyprus and the region, which acknowledges the inherent sovereign equality and equal international status rights of the Turkish Cypriot People.
Referring to the strong historical and cultural bonds that exists between Motherland Türkiye, TRNC and Azerbaijan, President Tatar said: “The people of the TRNC have deep love for Azerbaijan and its people, and we have the understanding of ‘three states, one nation.”
Stating that the historic call to the international community for the formal recognition of the TRNC by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the UN General Assembly in New York was a “turning point and a landmark moment”, the President said: “I cannot stress enough the importance of the support Motherland Türkiye gives to the TRNC, politically, economically and across all fields.”
President Tatar added that “the Turkish Cypriot People attribute great importance to the support of members of the Organisation of Turkic States and particularly the Turkish States with whom we share heartfelt bonds. Work is continuing to further develop the TRNC which is a Turkish state of geostrategic importance in the eastern Mediterranean.”
Stating that it is his “greatest wish for the TRNC to be in closer relations with Azerbaijan and to deepen the relations between the two countries”, President Tatar said: “The TRNC is a separate, sovereign and independent State. There are two Peoples on the island of Cyprus – the Turkish Cypriot People and the Greek Cypriot People – each with their own culture, language and history. Our Republic has its own population, State institutions, government, defined territory and border. The TRNC fulfils all the conditions of a functioning State as defined by international conventions. The Republic of Türkiye formally recognises us. This is very valuable for us. Whilst we continue our struggle with this understanding, it is our greatest wish to be in closer relations with Azerbaijan and to develop deeper relations”.
President Tatar reiterated that the hearts of the Turkish Cypriot People are with their Azerbaijani brothers with regards to the Karabağ issue.
Invitation to President Tatar to attend the 5th Türkiye-Azerbaijan Brotherhood Awards Night
Mr Bozat, who expressed his gratitude to President Tatar for receiving the delegation, briefed the President about the activities of the club and the international organisations in which they participated. He also extended an invitation to President Tatar to attend the 5th Türkiye - Azerbaijan Brotherhood Awards Night in İstanbul with the aim of furthering unity and solidarity within the scope of "three states, one nation".
