President Ersin Tatar meets with Ali Asadov, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan
President Ersin Tatar has met with Ali Asadov, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, at his office. The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere.
President Tatar, who made a statement following the meeting, expressed his "gratitude for the hospitality" extended to him in Azerbaijan, noting that "this is a clear reflection of the value and respect shown to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the Turkish Cypriot people".
He emphasised that the TRNC, with its tourism, higher education, construction, and real estate sectors, as well as its fully equipped airports and ports, offers significant opportunities -- especially to its sister nation Azerbaijan and other countries of the Turkic world. President Tatar stated that the TRNC is "ready to make every effort to strengthen cooperation aimed at significantly increasing the flow of tourists and students between the two countries and boosting investment and financial engagement in real estate and other sectors".
Prime Minister Asadov expressed his pleasure at welcoming President Tatar to Azerbaijan, affirming that the TRNC is an inseparable part of the Turkic world and that both the Azerbaijani State and its people have always stood by the TRNC. He referred to the statement of President Ilham Aliyev, where he said that “we have one family, and that is the Turkic World,” and stressed the geostrategic importance of the TRNC, as well as the growing significance of diplomatic, economic, and social relations between the two countries.
President Tatar added that they also discussed issues relating to potential areas of economic and institutional cooperation, and the importance of the TRNC’s observer status in the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) and the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), and the participation of President Tatar in the upcoming 17th ECO Summit in Khankendi.
Present at the meeting were TRNC Representative to Baku, Ambassador Ufuk Turganer; Special Advisor to the President on International Relations and Diplomacy, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Işıksal; Presidential Advisor Gökhan Güler; and Foreign Press Officer Kerem Haser.
