President Ersin Tatar inaugurated the exhibition titled "The National Struggle and Turkish Cypriots in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye".

Organised by the Cyprus Religious Foundations Administration (Evkaf) and the National Library of the Republic of Türkiye under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye and the Presidency of the TRNC, the exhibition is being held at the Bedesten in Lefkoşa.

In his speech at the ceremony, President Tatar expressed his gratitude to the organisers and expressed his pleasure for participating and inaugurating such an important exhibition.

“The Turkish Cypriot People were inspired by the struggle waged by the Republic of Türkiye for freedom and independence,” the President said. “This year marks a very important anniversary for us. We are this year commemorating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye. As a People who have deep love for their Motherland, the Turkish Cypriot People have naturally been involved and followed the struggle of the Turkish nation for independence and freedom. This struggle has been an inspiration for the struggle of the Turkish Cypriot People who endured many years of atrocities, who sought to live in peace and freedom after having resisted many years of attempts to unite the island of Cyprus to Greece.”

President Tatar stated that along with the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye, the 40th anniversary of the proclamation of the TRNC will be celebrated this year.

“The struggle waged in unison is worthy of our history,” President Tatar stated. “With the unity, solidarity, courage and heroism displayed in this exhibition, we embrace everyone with the determination to continue the development and keep alive the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,  which has geopolitical  importance in the eastern Mediterranean."

President Tatar expressed his gratitude to the organisers and thanked everyone who contributed to the organisation of the exhibition.
