President Ersin Tatar commemorates the late founder of the Nationalist Movement Party, Alparslan Türkeş

President Ersin Tatar issued a message on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the death of Alparslan Türkeş, founder of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) in Turkey.




Mr Türkeş was of Turkish Cypriot origin and was born on November 25, 1917, in the Haydarpaşa quarter of Lefkoşa, in the walled city.



The message of President Tatar is as follows:

“I commemorate the late Alparslan Türkeş on the 24th anniversary of his death.  Mr Türkeş was born in Cyprus in 1917, and was one of the most important names of Turkish nationalism and the Turkish world. He was a great statesman and lawyer, the founder and first chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party. His services to the Turkish World and our Cyprus National Cause will not be forgotten. May God rest his soul.”
